Sketch #89

A card sketch for you today....

and my card:

I heat embossed the small flower from Punched Posies (hostess set from the Summer Mini) onto four patterned papers (Thoroughly Modern & Write Stuff). I also heat embossed part of the sentiment from FYI. The Scallop Border Punch adds an extra detail, and I also paper pierced along the top.

If you create a card (or layout) based on this sketch, I'd love to see it! Link me up in the comments!

Sketch # 88

I've got a scrapbook sketch for you today (although it would work for cards also):

And here's my layout (I did 8x8 in My Digital Studio):

I used some extra downloads on this one: Write Stuff II papers, Textured cardstock, and Vintage Overlays. The Extreme Elements stamps, Modern Labels, and Stitching all come with the program.

Summer Stamp & Learn - Motorcycle

This is the third project we're making at my Summer Stamp & Learn (tomorrow @ 7:00 and Tuesday the 25th @ 7:00pm). It features three products from the Summer Mini Catalogue: The Motorcyle stamp, Log Cabin Smooch Spray and Presto Patterns paper (coloured with an Aquapainter). This is a Joy Fold card, so the Not Quite Navy section opens to put your writing inside. The motorcycle doesn't show up in the picture very well since it is stamped on the Brushed Silver cardstock.

If you'd like to make this card, and the two projects below, send me an e-mail!

Supplies: Stamps (Motorcycle, Teeny Tiny Wishes); Inks (Basic Grey, Not Quite Navy, Wild Wasabi); Cardstock (Kraft, Garden Green, Not Quite Navy, Brushed Silver, Presto Patterns); Punches (Modern Label, Word Window); Going Gray & Garden Green Stampin' Write Markers; Silver brad, Aqua Painter, Log Cabin Smooch Spray

Summer Stamp & Learn - Watercolor Trio

Watercolor Trio was the first stamp set that grabbed my attention as I looked through the Summer Mini for the first time... I loved the card that was shown with it, and I'm always a sucker for a stamp set with images and sentiments. I also liked the possibility of masculine cards as well as feminine... I'm all for versatility.

This is the second project we'll be making at my Summer Stamp & Learn this weekend (Sunday and Tuesday @ 7:00pm). It's a fairly simple and quick card... a bit of masking (but I've made the mask already) and selective inking with markers. I still have room in both time slots, so let me know if you'd like to come!

Supplies: Stamps (Watercolor Trio); Inks (Certainly Celery, Rich Razzleberry, Crushed Curry, Old Olive); Cardstock (Naturals White, Rich Razzleberry, Soft Suede); Punches (Large Oval, Scallop Oval).

Summer Stamp & Learn - Sweet Treat Box

This weekend (you can tell we don't have plans since I spaced on the fact that it's the holiday weekend) I'm having my Summer Stamp & Learn. We're going to use different products from the Summer Mini to make three projects, and you can learn more about Stampin' Up! and the Starter Kit. It's a free event, so if you're not busy and you'd like to join us, please send me an e-mail! I have two times (I added a Tuesday night for those of you lucky enough to have plans for the long weekend):
Sunday, May 23rd @ 7:00pm
Tuesday, May 25th @ 7:00pm

This is one of the projects we'll be making at the Stamp & Learn. It shows the new Square Lattice Textured Impressions folder and the Sweet Treats stamp set. I'll be posting the other two projects here too, so come back to see them!

Supplies: Stamps (Sweet Treats); Inks (Pretty in Pink, Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise, Soft Suede); Cardstock (Kraft, Whisper White); Punches (Wide Oval, Curly Label); Thoroughly Modern DSP; Box #2 Die for the Big Shot, Square Lattice Textured Impressions folder

Sketch #87 take 2...

My goal this month (since it's {inter}National Scrapbooking Month) was to do more scrapbooking... and I haven't yet. Well, until today that is. My Digital Studio makes it so easy... so today I've actually done two layouts! This one is based on the card sketch I posted yesterday... I just enlarged it and flipped it and added a journaling block. I've sized my layouts at 8x8 so I can print them relatively inexpensively in 8x10 format.

I've used some downloads for MDS (they don't come with the program, but you can buy them online and there's no shipping! You just download and can use them immediately). I used the Write Stuff II kit, Spring Shades papers, Presto Patterns overlays, Textured Cardstock, Vintage Overlays and Extreme Elements brushes. I think I'm going to add some buttons and felt flowers after I get it printed, so I'll show you the complete layout when I get that done. Fonts used are DisProporz (journaling) and FO-Weathered-In Between.

Sketch #87

It's been a while since I've posted a sketch, but it's my week to post a card sketch on the Stampin' Connection so I have a sketch and card to show you this week!

Here's the sketch:
and here's my card:
I used some products from the new Summer Mini (Bouquet Bunch stamp set for the bouquet, Watercolour Trio for the sentiment and Presto Patterns paper for the frame around my image), and a colour combination from the new Brights Collection (Old Olive, Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise, and the new Daffodil Delight). I sponged Certainly Celery and Tempting Turquoise ink onto the Presto Patterns paper to reveal the grid... these papers are so fun and you can make them any colour(s) to match your project.

If you create something based on my sketch, I'd love to see it... leave me a link in the comments!

Technique - Crystal Effects

This is the second card we'll be making at my Technique Class this weekend... I'm featuring techniques with Crystal Effects. It's little hard to see (click to make it bigger), but I used the Crystal Effects to accent certain parts of the stamped images. I also added some glitter to the sentiment. This card is based on a sketch by Carole'Anne and uses Circle Circus, one of the stamp sets Stampin' Up! is featuring this month for their Scrapbooking promotion. You can get a free pack of Designer Brads if you purchase this set, or any of the others featured (Elements of Style, Extreme Elements, Framed with Love, Certified, Rough Type, First Day).

Supplies: Stamps (Circle Circus, Matchbox Messages); Inks (So Saffron, Regal Rose, Mellow Moss, Brocade Blue); Cardstock (Mellow Moss, Barely Banana, So Saffron, Whisper White); Punches (3/4" Circle, 1 1/4" Circle, 1 3/8" Circle, Scallop Circle, 1 3/4" Circle); Organza Ribbon, Crystal Effects, Dazzling Diamonds glitter

May Technique Class - Crystal Effects

This is one of the cards we'll be making this weekend in my May Technique Class. I'm featuring Crystal Effects, so we'll make some samples for the back of the technique reference card and two cards. Anniversary Elements

My mom asked me to make a card for my aunt and uncle's 50th anniversary, so I tried to incorporate some gold... Elements of Style is one of the stamp sets featured in this month's scrapbooking promotion (buy this stamp set and get a pack of Designer Brads for free!).

I embossed the flower image with Gold Stampin' Emboss powder on Vellum Cardstock, then coloured on the back with Stampin' Write Markers (Regal Rose, Melon Mambo, Certainly Celery, Old Olive). I blended the colours together a bit with a Blender Pen. I also heat embossed the butterfly (All a Flutter - an individual stamp in the Summer Mini) with Gold Stampin' Emboss powder on Shimmery White cardstock, then used my Aqua Painter to add colour (Bermuda Bay & Certainly Celery). I wanted them to blend together, so I added them right after each other.

On the cardstock behind the vellum, I stamped French Filigree with Rich Razzleberry ink. I attached the vellum with Clear Rhinestone brads. Teeny Tiny Wishes is my go-to sentiment set, and I layered the Word Window punch with the Modern Label punch. A Scallop Edge border, and my card was done.

Birthday Butterflies

I saw this card on my up-upline Elaine's blog this afternoon, and had to immediately make my own. I love it! The black butterflies on Kraft are so striking, and I combined it with some fun, bright colours (Old Olive, Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry). I heat embossed the butterfly (on Shimmer White cardstock) with White Stampin' Emboss powder, and used my Aqua Painter to add colour to the open areas before cutting it out to add as an accent. The butterfly stamp is a single one (last page of the Summer Mini - only $8.95) and the sentiment is from Watercolor Trio (pg16 of the mini). I also used the Square Lattice Textured Impressions folder on my scalloped piece.

Stampin' Up! has just added more items to the clearance section of the online store... lots of retired papers, ribbons and other embellishments at great prices!

Presto Patterns!

The Presto Patterns are in the Summer Mini (pg 15) and they might be easy to miss as you're looking through, but they are fun and very versatile! They are pre-embossed (shiny white) with six different patterns, so you can apply any ink colours in a variety of ways (I sponged three colours on the grid pattern in the card above). The pattern resists the ink showing the white pattern. This card design came from a sketch by Diane for this week's Stampin' Connection card sketch challenge.

I stamped two lilies from Fifth Avenue Floral with Basic Grey ink on Whisper White cardstock, then used a Blender Pen and Tempting Turquoise ink to colour outside the lines (I saw this card by Michelle and had to try it). I stamped the lily again with VersaMark ink on Tempting Turquoise cardstock and heat embossed with White Stampin' Emboss powder. The Clear Rhinestone brads are inside the Small Basic Grommets.

Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes, Fifth Avenue Floral

Cardstock: Certainly Celery, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White, Crushed Curry
Inks: VersaMark, Tempting Turquoise, Basic Grey, Crushed Curry, Certainly Celery
Punches: Word Window, Modern Label
Other: Small Grommets, Clear Crystal brads, White Stampin' Emboss powder, Presto patterns paper

Summer Mini Starts today!

The Summer Mini starts today, so I thought I'd show a couple of new products from it that I used on this card. I love the new Square Lattice Textured Impressions folder (behind the ice cream cones)... it adds so much texture to a project. The stamps are from a set call Sweet Scoops, and I Rock'n Rolled the ice cream scoops to get some extra dimension. Punches make this a quick and easy card and add some more dimension.

I've added the link to download the Summer Mini to my sidebar, or you can click here to download. If you're Canadian and you don't have a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator and you'd like a paper copy of the Summer Mini, let me know and I'll mail one out to you!

Supplies: Stamps (Sweet Scoops); Inks (Bashful Blue, Tempting Turquoise, Pretty in Pink, Melon Mambo, Certainly Celery, Garden Green, Soft Suede, Chocolate Chip); Cardstock (Barely Banana, Melon Mambo, Kraft Crumb Cake, Certainly Celery, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White); Wide Oval Punch, Curly Label Punch, Square Lattice Textured Impressions folder.
