Joyful Christmas Monochromatic Card

This card is simply beautiful...thanks so much to Natasha Zandbergen for sharing on her blog! I thought it was perfect for new (or time-limited) stampers and perfect for my Christmas Stamp-a-Stack later this month! At my Stamp-a-Stack, you'll make four of this card and four of four other designs, for a total of 20 cards! This card would also be a good one to make if you don't have a lot of supplies on hand, and have to buy supplies for your cards this year.

It uses only five items (other than adhesive):

Smoky Slate card stock
Whisper White card stock
Joyful Christmas stamp set
Smoky Slate ink pad
1/8" Silver Ribbon

You can order these items in my online store and they'll ship right to you!

Endless Wishes + Chalk Talk = Cute & Fun!

This is one of the cards we're making in my Simple Holiday Cards Class this weekend (eight cards - 2 each of four designs) and I hope that Endless Wishes is available again (so popular Stampin' Up! sold out of their supply in about a week). I love these colours together (Bermuda Bay, Raspberry Ripple and Crumb Cake) and I love the way this card turned out... The snowflakes from the set are stamped onto a Chalk Talk tag and I added a thin strip of Silver Glimmer paper too. A knot of Raspberry Ripple stitched ribbon and a couple Rhinestones finish the card off! There is still room in the classes if you want to make this card!

October Paper Pumpkin Bonus Cards

When I receive my Paper Pumpkin each month I challenge myself to create some alternate projects with the supplies (you can see past projects if you click the Paper Pumpkin tag at the end of this post). I send the supplies, instructions and photos to everyone who has subscribed to the kit through me so they can make them too! This month I felt more challenged than normal when I opened up my box... this was the project included in the kit:
It's a very cute (and easy to put together) memo board. However, there wasn't anything left over or even papers I could cut apart to use on my alternate projects. There were only word stamps too, which made it even more challenging for me. After some Google-ing, I found my inspiration (gotta love Stampin' Connection and demonstrators who share) and came up with these three bonus cards:

I'm happy with what I came up with, and hope you like them too!

Embossed Ornament Card

Last night I held my Gold Stars, Ink stamp night, and it was a Product Showcase month. There are so many products that are available right now, but are not in the Annual Catalogue or Holiday Catalogue, so I wanted to remind everyone about some of them... This card features the Ornament Keepsakes and Many Merry Messages stamps and the Ornament Framelits which are carryover items from last year's Holiday Catalogue. You can find them in the Online Only category in my Stampin' Up! store.

This card also showcases the Diagonal Stripes embossing folder and Season of Style paper pack from the Holiday Catalogue, the Naturals Compositions paper (the tag... sponged with Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive and Early Espresso inks) and Pewter, Early Espresso and Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Emboss powder.

Thanks for looking!

Merry Poinsettia CASE

This is one of the cards we're making this weekend in my Stepped Up Cards Class. I created my version of the card in the Holiday Catalogue (pg. 20). I embossed the Poinsettia from Joyful Christmas with Gold embossing powder and fussy cut it with scissors. The Frosted Finishes embellishment also go the gold treatment (pressed it into the VersaMark pad, dipped it in the Gold embossing powder and heated it). The background was embossed with the Pretty Print embossing folder and then the Gold Encore ink pad was pressed onto the centre section. The Expressions Thinlit (Merry) was cut from the Gold Foil card stock. If you'd like to come to my class and make this card, there are a few spots left!

Regarding Dahlias Emboss Resist

I think Regarding Dahlias is my favourite stamp set right now... I have to stop myself from using it in every class I'm prepping for and I'm not always successful... it just sneaks in! We made this card in my July Stepped Up Cards class, and I love the way it turned out. I really like this colour combo (Pear Pizzazz, Soft Sky, Smoky Slate).
  1. I stamped the Dictionary background stamp with Soft Sky ink on Whisper White card stock and let it dry. I also rubbed it with the Embossing Buddy.
  2. I stamped the dahlia stamp from Regarding Dahlias with VersaMark ink and covered it with White Stampin' Emboss powder. Tap off the excess and heat with the Heat Tool.
  3. I masked (covered up) the Dahlia with post it notes, then stamped the leaves (from Summer Silhouettes) with Pear Pizzazz ink.
  4. I removed the mask and coloured in the striped areas of the embossed dahlia with a Soft Sky Stampin' Write Marker.
  5. I sponged over the whole flower with Pear Pizzazz ink. I also sponged around the edges of the card stock with Pear Pizzazz.
  6. I embossed a strip of Pear Pizzazz card stock with the Delicate Designs embossing folder and added a few Basic Pearls to embellish.
  7. I punched a piece of Smoky Slate card stock with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon border punch and put that behind the Pear Pizzazz card stock.
  8. I stamped the sentiment and punched it with the circle punch, then layered that with the Artisan Label.
  9. All that was left was to attach the Whisper White card stock to a card base!
I'll be back tomorrow with a card from this month's Stepped Up Cards Class...

September Scrapbook Class

This is one of the layouts we'll be making in this weekend's Scrapbook Class:

It features papers from the Brights Paper Stack, Natural Composition specialty paper, burlap ribbon, heart and button embosslits and Polka Dot Parade paper. I'm planning on adding back to school pictures to this layout...

September Simple Cards Class

Starting this month, I'm offering two options in my Simple Cards Class:

All Occasion Cards like this
or Holiday Cards like this!

You'll still make eight cards (2 each of four designs) but you can choose to make All Occasion Cards or Holiday Cards. This is a great way to get a head start on the Holiday Season, plus these are great cards to make more of at home on your own. I have three class times over the weekend (Friday evening, Sunday afternoon and Sunday evening), and have spaces available in all time slots. You can check out the details or sign up for a class right on my website (Click Here)

The All Occasion card shown was inspired by JanTink and features the Regarding Dahlias stamp set and Emboss Resist technique. The Holiday Card was CASE'd from Lyssa Zwolonek and features the Calm Christmas (Holiday Catalogue) and World Map stamp sets.

Painter's Tape + Lovely as a Tree

I think this was my favourite card from my August Simple Cards Class... I love the colours, and I love how easy the Painter's Tape background technique is, and how much it adds to the card.

If you haven't seen the Painter's Tape Technique yet, you have to try it! I found it works best with the newer Firm Foam pads, but it does work with the older felt/fabric top pads too. You just lay a strip of painter's tape on the ink pad (sticky side down), rub in little circles to transfer ink to the tape, then lift the tape and stick it onto your card stock. Rub the back of the tape again (transferring ink to the card stock), and carefully peel it back off. If you're not happy with your first application, you can repeat to add a little more ink (or extend your strips of colour). Then repeat with a new piece of tape and another ink colour... continue until your background is the way you want it and stamp any image and sentiment of your choice over top. I used a tree from Lovely As a Tree (stamped with Early Espresso) and the sentiment from So Sorry (Soft Suede and Early Espresso. The colours I used for the background are Pistachio Pudding, Crumb Cake & Soft Sky. I also added a small piece of Burlap Ribbon (Holiday Catalogue) and paper pierced corners.

Thanks for stopping by!

Epic Day Washi Layout

I created this layout a few months ago for my Scrapbook Class. It features the Epic Day patterned papers and Washi Tape, the Everything Eleanor stamp set, the Typeset Alphabet Bigz dies (for the Big Shot) and some Vellum Card stock.

Acetate & StazOn Butterfly Card

This is a card from my August Stepped Up Cards Class, and it might be my favourite this month. While I was making it however, I wasn't happy with my prototype and couldn't come up with something that featured the stamped acetate (White StazOn stamped butterflies from Papaya Collage, Backyard Basics and Papillion Potpourri) yet didn't look too plain. I added the black glittered butterfly (thanks to my Heat & Stick powder and new black glitter from the Holiday Catalogue) and the Modern Medley patterned paper. It still needed something (I was thinking a black ribbon around the top--but I didn't have any) so I added the thin strips of Basic Black card stock, and the sentiment (embossed with White Stampin' Emboss Powder) from the Label Love stamp set. I love the way the card turned out, and I'm so happy I kept trying. Thanks to Pauline who gave me a few ideas to help me figure this card out!

I love butterflies, so Papillion Potpourri was a must have when I saw it in last year's catalogue. I love that we also have the co-ordinating punches for both sizes of butterflies. If you don't have the stamp set and Bitty Butterfly punch yet, now is the time! Until September 30th, you'll save 15% when you buy the Butterfly Bundle (#135311 - $33.92 for Clear Mount and #135312 - $38.17 for Wood Mount). If you look back at the last couple cards I've posted, you can see the stamp set and punch in use!

August Paper Pumpkin Bonus Cards!

I had a lot of fun with the August Paper Pumpkin kit... I love the bicycle stamp! A perk for people who subscribe to the Paper Pumpkin kit with me is I send them instructions, photos and extra supplies to create bonus cards with the stamps and products in the kit. The only other supplies they may need are the stamps and ink spot from the Welcome Kit (everyone gets that their first month) and adhesive. Card 1 is always the card made with the instructions in the kit. These are the four bonus cards for this month:

(a bit of a tweak from the original design... made the card horizontal, and used a strip of the Raspberry Ripple card stock sticker instead of the banners)

(love how well the Birthday Basics patterned paper co-ordinates with the stamp)

(this was a CASE from Julie Davison)

(I folded the Crushed Curry sticker strips in half, then cut a 'v' at the bottom to create another pennant type. This card also uses the stamps from the Welcome Kit)

I hope you like these variations!

Envelope Punch Board - Now Available!

Stampin' Up!'s Envelope Punch board is now available, and I can't wait to get mine... This will add an extra touch to our hand made cards (plus make it easy to create envelopes for different sized cards). I can't wait to use it to make a journaling pocket on my scrapbook pages too. You can check out how easy it is to use in the video below:

Debossed Wildflower Butterfly

I saw a card like this on Pinterest created by Vicky Hayes and had to create one for myself (it uses Bermuda Bay & White again...). We made this in my August Simple Cards Class.

I embossed a piece of Whisper White card stock with the Wildflower Meadow embossing folder, then flipped it over so I could use the debossed side. I stamped my sentiment on a strip of Whisper White card stock and then used the Simply Scored tool to create an embossed line on each side of the sentiment. A butterfly from Papillion Potpourri stamped and punched with the Bitty Butterfly punch finish the card off.

Butterfly Window Card

I have so many cards (and a few scrapbook pages) to share... I've been making them and holding classes, but I just can't seem to get them uploaded and posted here. Here's hoping I can do a better job keeping up from now on.

This card was from my Big Shot Class (June's maybe???). I love this colour combo right now... expect to see Bermuda Bay quite a bit if I do get more projects posted. I don't remember liking or using Bermuda Bay as much when it was an In Colour a few years ago, but I can't get enough of it combined with White and/or Black. This card also uses a butterfly from the new Backyard Basics stamp set (with co-ordinating Framelits to cut it out) and a piece of Modern Medley patterned paper. I cut the window in the card with the Apothecary Accents Framelit and put the paper behind (on Dimensionals). A couple butteflies from Papillion Potpourri (punched with the Bitty Butterfly punch) and a sentiment finish this card off!

Holiday Catalogue Starts today!

The Stampin Up! starts today, and there are a lot of great products to help celebrate the upcoming holidays (Thanksgiving, Halloween, Christmas and even Valentines Day)

If you have not seen it yet, you can view online by clicking HERE

We made this card at my Holiday Sneak Peek on Monday... as soon as I saw this stamp set (Joyful Christmas), I thought it would be perfect for the Stained Glass technique... so that is what I did! I embossed the Poinsettia and leaves with Gold Stampin Emboss powder on the Vellum Card stock, then coloured on the back of the vellum with Stampin Write Markers (Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green & Crushed Curry). I always love the embossing folders for the Big Shot, so I had to use the new Stylish Stripes embossing folder on the Cherry Cobbler card stock after cutting the Window Frame window for the image to show through.

Thanks for looking!

July Paper Pumpkin Bonus Cards!

Hi! The July Paper Pumpkin arrived on my doorstep earlier this month, and it is a super cute kit to make birthday banners for cakes. It came with three really cute background stamps, and I knew they would make some really cute cards so after I made the projects in the kit I made three cards.

For this first card, I created a mask from copy paper and the Circle Framelits and some temporary adhesive. I put that over a piece of Whisper White card stock and stamped the background stamps from the July kit with the Pool Party ink spot from the kit. I added some punched butterflies (Summer Starfruit), and the sentiment from the Starter Paper Pumpkin kit. A bit of Coastal Cabana ruffled ribbon is the finishing touch.

This second card is super simple... I stamped the backgrounds with Pool Party and Summer Starfruit ink on a Whisper White Note Card. The sentiment is from the Starter Kit again and I added a Summer Starfruit Dahlia.
For the third card, I embossed a piece of Smoky Slate card stock with the new Stylish Stripes embossing folder (available August 1st). I punched three Elegant Butterflies from Whisper White card stock and stamped them with the background stamps and ink spots from the July Paper Pumpkin. I added a rhinestone to each butterfly and the sentiment to finish off the card.
I hope you like these cards created with the July Paper Pumpkin! Anyone who orders the kits from me gets the supplies and instructions to make my bonus projects each month. Until August 31st you can get your first two kits for half price when you use the Promo Code: PUMPKINDEAL when you join!

Fine Feathers In and Out Card

This card is one we made in my June Stepped Up Cards Class. It features the Baby Wipe ink pad technique and the Fine Feathers stamp set.

I created a multicoloured ink pad with ink refills (Midnight Muse, Coastal Cabana and Pear Pizzazz) and a folded baby wipe. This way, we could ink the peacock feather stamp quickly and easily, and the colours blended together.

Supplies:

stamps: Fine Feathers, Thanks & Hello
Inks: Midnight Muse, Coastal Cabana, Pear Pizzazz
Card stock: Early Espresso, Midnight Muse, Very Vanilla
Other: Beautifully Baroque embossing folder, Rhinestones

June 2013 Paper Pumpkin Kit

Happy Canada Day!

Well, June has come and gone, and I've been busy creating but haven't had a chance to share with you everything I'm making! Hopefully I can do better in July...

I do want to share what I've made with my June Paper Pumpkin kit... you can see the basic card in the video I'm sharing here... The kit includes supplies to make four of these cards. They are very cute, but I like to step it up a bit and think outside the box. So, I've made five alternate cards, using supplies and stamps from the kit, and adding a few basics to a couple of them (card stock for extra card bases, extra ink colours, a little ribbon, etc.).

Anyone who purchases their Paper Pumpkin Kit through me will get the instructions, photos and extra supplies to make the alternate & bonus projects each month... contact me for more info!

So in addition to the card shown in the video, these are the other five cards I made:

I'd love to hear what you think of my alternate cards using these supplies... please comment!

Fond Farewell to Just Believe

For the most part, I am okay with saying goodbye to the retiring products at the end of each catalogue. Each year though, there are a few stamp sets and products that I just can't bear to part with yet, and this year I decided to host a Fond Farewell Party for them so I could use them one more time for classes (and maybe convince you that you need them too!). These are the products I won't be giving away at my BOGO Catalogue Kick-Off Party next week. There is still time to register for both of these events... you don't want to miss them!

This card features two products I'm sad to see leaving - the Just Believe stamp set and Baja Breeze. Dawn O posted a card like this one, and I just had to make one for myself. The best part is there is only one ink (VersaMark) and this card is so quick & easy! We'll be making this card at my Fond Farewell party next Thursday.

Stamps: Just Believe*
Inks: VersaMark, Soft Suede
Card stock: Naturals White, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Baja Breeze*
Other: Neutral Brads*

Perfectly Preserved... get it while you can!

I'm sad that the Perfectly Preserved stamp set and framelits will be gone after June 3rd, and had to use them one more time for my Stepped Up Cards class this weekend.

I created a gatefold card, and used the Stampin' Score tool to create the scored lines on the Basic Grey card base. The jar was stamped (full strength and stamped off) with Gumball Green ink, then I sponged the card stock with Pool Party and Gumball Green inks. I used More Mustard (also retiring) to add a little pop to the card.

Stamps: Perfectly Preserved
Inks: Gumball Green, Pool Party, More Mustard
card stock: Basic Grey, Whisper White, More Mustard
Other: Small Oval punch, Beautiful Wings embosslit, Basic Pearls

Rain or Shine Pyramid Card (and last day for free shipping!)

We made this card in my February Stepped Up Cards Class. It is a pyramid card, and it does fold up and fit in an envelope. The Designer Builder Brad holds the flap in place when it's open (the card stock tucks behind) and you can slip it out and fold it closed.

(side view)

I think my favourite papers in the Spring Catalogue are the Sunshine and Sprinkles papers... they just make me happy! I also really like the Rain or Shine stamp set (with a wedding and baby shower in my families' near future, it will come in handy). The Itty Bitties stamped images work perfectly with the Designer Builder Brads too. The Free Shipping offer from Stampin' Up! ends today at midnight! Contact me if you want to place an order, or order online on my website.

Stamps: Rain or Shine, Itty Bitties
Inks: Melon Mambo, Pacific Point, Lucky Limeade
Card stock: Crumb Cake, Melon Mambo, Pacific Point, Lucky Limeade, Daffodil Delight
Other: 2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch, Circles Big Shot Die, Designer Builder Brad, Circle Punch from Punch Pack

Embossed Flower Hello

I saw this card by Betsy Veldman, and had to make a version with Stampin' Up! products... I just loved the look of the white stamped images on the black card stock with embossed flowers in multiple colours over top. We made this card in my March Stepped Up Cards class.

I used a ton of different stamp sets on this card... I was trying to get images that looked like they went together. I stamped the first layer of images with Whisper White Craft ink, heated with my Heat Tool until dry, then stamped one image at a time, sprinkled it with coloured embossing powders (Tempting Turquoise, Wild Wasabi and Tangerine Tango). Once all the images were stamped and covered with embossing powder, I heated them all at once with the Heat Tool. The label (from Apothecary Accents) was stamped with Wild Wasabi ink (stamped off once) with the chevron oval image from Oh, Hello and then the sentiment was stamped with StazOn Jet Black ink.

Stamps: Oh, Hello, Mixed Bunch, Papaya Collage, Flowering Flourishes, Betsy's Blossoms
Inks: StazOn Jet Black, VersaMark, Whisper White Craft, Wild Wasabi
Card stock: Crumb Cake, Basic Black, Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise
Other: Stampin' Emboss Powders (Wild Wasabi, Tempting Turquoise, Tangerine Tango), Apothecary Accents Framelits, 1 3/4" Circle Punch, Basic Rhinestone

It's called This & That, and is great for scrapbooking all of life's little events and memorabilia, but can also be used as a creativity journal. Secret Garden Diamond Fold Card

This is one of the cards we made at my March Stepped Up Cards Class:

It is a diamond fold card (find the instructions to make the card base below), and features the Secret Garden stamp set and Framelits from the Spring Catalogue. I embossed the flowers with White Stampin' Emboss powder, then used Stampin' Write Markers and Blender Pens to colour them (the blue flower was done on card stock vellum). I embossed the sentiment with white as well.

Card Base instructions:  4” x 12” piece of card stock. Score @ 2”, 4”, 8” & 10”. With the Diagonal Scoring Plate for the Stampin’ Score, place the long edge of the base against the top edge. Score diagonally at 6”. Flip the card stock (other long side against the top) and score again at 6”. Turn the card stock over (back is now on top) and score diagonally at 6”. Turn the card stock 180 degrees and score again at 6”. This should create a diamond in the centre with an X on each side, and a rectangle at each end. Fold on the X score lines to create the card base.

Stamps: Secret Garden, Vintage Verses (Sale-a-bration - not available)
Inks: VersaMark, Stampin' Write Markers (So Saffron, Summer Starfruit, Pool Party, Island Indigo, Pink Pirouette, Primrose Petals)
Card stock: Primrose Petals Core'dination, Basic Grey, Whisper White, Card stock vellum
Other: Secret Garden Framelits, Distressing Tool, White Stampin' Emboss powder, Afternoon Daydream DSP

Feeling Sentimental Double Embossing Card

This is one of the cards we made in my Big Shot Class last weekend, and it features two Sale-a-Bration freebie products: Feeling Sentimental stamps and the Vine Street embossing folder.

This card features the Double Embossing technique. I created two templates from Chipboard. One for the outside (embossed with the Vine Street folder) and one for the inside (embossed with the Designer Frames embossing folder). Of course, you need to do your stamping before the embossing, so I created a template to help pencil in the area that should be stamped. My sandwich for the Big Shot was Multipurpose Platform - Tab 2, embossing folder with card stock inside, Chipboard template, Cutting Plate. I ran it through twice... first with the Vine Street Folder, and then with the Designer Frame folder positioned over the un-embossed section from the first folder.

Stamps: Feeling Sentimental*
Card stock: Soft Suede, Very Vanilla
Inks: Early Espresso
Other: Vine Street Textured Impression Folder, Designer Frame Textured Impression folder, Early Espresso Baker's Twine.

Honeycomb Secret Garden

One of my favourite (easy) techniques right now is stamping a large panel of card stock, then runnign it through the Big Shot in an embossing folder. It really takes a "plain" card and makes it special! For this card (from my March Simple Cards Class), I stamped the Whisper White panel with stamps from Secret Garden, then ran it though the Big Shot in the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Folder. I dressed it up with a doily, a pretty sentiment (from Vintage Verses--Free until March 22nd with a $60.00 order) and a flower and leaf stamped on scrap card stock and cut out with the Secret Garden Framelits. A little Certainly Celery Taffeta ribbon finishes this card off!

Stamps: Vintage Verses*, Secret Garden
Inks: Pink Pirouette, Certainly Celery
Card stock: Certainly Celery, Whisper White
Other: Large Pearl, Secret Garden Framelits, Doily, 2 1/2" Circle Punch, Certainly Celery Taffeta Ribbon, Honeycomb embossing folder

Emboss Resist Swallowtail

This may have been my favourite card from my Simple Cards Class this month... I stamped the Swallowtail on First Edition paper with VersaMark and embossed with Black Stampin' Emboss powder. Then I used sponge daubers to colour (quickly) with More Mustard, Baja Breeze & Rich Razzleberry inks. The sentiment is from a Sale-a-bration set (free with a $60 order until March 22nd) called Vintage Verses. I punched it out with the Large Oval punch and popped it up on a Rich Razzleberry piece cut with the Apothecary Accents Framelits. A couple Rhinestones finish the card off.

Stamps: Swallowtail, Vintage Verses
Inks: VersaMark, More Mustard, Baja Breeze, Rich Razzleberry
Card stock: Naturals Ivory, Rich Razzleberry, Very Vanilla
Other: First Edition DSP, Apothecary Accents Framelit, Lg Oval Punch, Basic Rhinestones, Black Stampin' Emboss Powder

Madison Ave Origami Diamond Card

This card is made from one sheet of patterned paper (I used a piece of the Sycamore Street paper you can get free right now during Sale-a-Bration). We made this card at my Stepped Up Cards Class last weekend. If you'd like to see how to make the card base, you can watch Wendy's video on Youtube by clicking HERE.

This is the card closed, with the top flap in the front pocket. I dyed the piece of Canvas Creations (Spring Catalogue) with Island Indigo re-inker and water (three different containers with different amounts of re-inker). I dried the canvas with my Heat Tool in between each layer of colour so I would get the look I wanted. I used the Madison Ave stamp set (also free during Sale-a-bration) to stamp on the canvas, and added a Sycamore Street button to the middle of the flower. It's hard to tell in this picture, but I punched the corner and two sides of the Whisper White card stock with the Scallop Trim Corner and Border punches. The Summer Starfruit Stitched Satin Ribbon is tied around the top flap.

In this photo, you can see the card with the flaps opened, so you can see the second stamped panel. I used the Madison Ave stamp set again, and Fabulous Phrases for the sentiment.

The inside of the card... I added some more stamping with the Madison Ave stamp set.
