Sketch #43

Another 12x12 sketch for this week:

I created a card using Botanical Blooms (A SAB set--free with a $60 purchase!):

This card is a sneak peek of a card we'll be making at my New Catalogue/Sale-a-Bration Open House this weekend! I've got lots of prizes, lots of sample cards and we'll make cards using new products (from the Spring/Summer IBC and the Sale-a-Bration brochure). If you're in London, ON and you'd like to come here are the details:

Sunday February 1st
3:00 pm or 7:00 pm
e-mail me (see sidebar) for my address
bring a friend for an extra ballot!

Quick share of a quick card...

I like to include a little thank you note with my orders as I hand them out, and for obvious reasons they need to be quick and easy. I am totally in love with this thank you note using Botanical Blooms from the Sale-a-Bration catalogue (free with a $60 order starting February 1st). I did use my Stamp-a-ma-jig to line up the stamps, but I made a bunch of these in just a few minutes.

I'd better get working on my sketch and layout for tomorrow!

New Catalogue, new look!

I decided it was time for a blog facelift, and was inspired by the Manhattan style from the new catalogue... I'd love to hear what you think!
As promised, here are a couple cards using new sets from the new catalogue! The first one uses a single stamp ~ Elegant Thank You (make sure you check out the very last page of the catalogue... there are some great single stamps to add sentiments and images you might need).

I wanted to keep the focus on the stamp, so I did some dry embossing, heat embossing and sponging.

This card uses the beautiful Level 2 Hostess Set, Echoes of Kindness. More heat embossing and blender pens with markers to colour the images (I scribble the markers on a stamp case, then pick up with the blender pen).

Stampin' Up! Spring/Summer 2009 is live!

I was going to post this yesterday, but it seemed slow and there were some glitches when it went live, so I waited until today.

The new Stampin' Up! catalogue is live and up on the website! I have link in my sidebar, or you can click here to download the pdf (you'll need Acrobat Reader to view it).

I thought I'd point out some of my favourite things from the catalogue... these are definitely on my wishlist!

I was lucky enough to get the Big Shot recently, and there are some great new additions in this catalogue! I love the Beautiful Butterflies die (pg. 196) and the Oval Scallop Frame (pg. 197) but I think I'm most excited about the Stampin' Up! Backgrounds texturz plates (pg. 203 & shown below) and the Manhatten Flower Textured Impressions die (pg. 202 ~ not available until March)!

I really like the whole Manhatten style watch, and these are my favourite stamps, I think: Fifth Avenue Floral and Central Park.

and these Trendy Trees (and Funky Forest Wheel) are hard to resist!

Hopefully I'll be back tomorrow with a card or two using a new set from the catalogue! If you're in Canada and interested in ordering, you can go to my Stampin' Up! site and order online... and if you're in the London area, don't miss my New Catalogue & Sale-a-Bration Open House on Sunday, February 1st! I have three times available (1pm, 3pm & 7pm) and will be showcasing new products from the catalogue! You'll make two cards using these products, and I have lots of prizes (stamp sets, card kits, rub-ons and more)! E-mail me for more details.

KW Colour Inspiration #38 (and a sneak peek for my January Stamp Club

Here's the Colour Inspiration from Kristina for this week:

and here is the card I created:
supplies (all SU!): cardstock (Whisper White, Pirouette Pink, Vellum Cardstock); inks (Riding Hood Red, Versamark); Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Write marker (added some pumpkin pie to the Upsy Daisy flowers on the bottom layer); Pumpkin Pie striped ribbon, White Embossing powder, Sweet Stems Embosslit & Upsy Daisly stamp set.

I'm featuring Vellum this month for my Stampers Club, and this is one of the cards we'll be doing this Sunday. It shows embossing on vellum and also layering with vellum. The card below is the other project this month. I used black embossing powder and markers/blender pens to show the Stained Glass technique. I saw this idea for using the Open End envelopes on Patty's blog and thought it was a great way to showcase these envelopes before they're gone (retiring January 18th). I thought they'd make a great little valentine--they even have a spot to hide the mushy message... ;)

If you're in the London area and want to try out my Stamper's club and make these projects, you're more than welcome! The first time is free... I just need notice to prepare extra projects (e-mail is in sidebar)

product list (all SU!): Love Owl-ways & Define your Life stamp sets; Bella Rose & Holiday Treasures DSP; 1 3/4" circle punch; black embossing powders; Stampin' Write markers; Riding Hood Red & Versamark inks; Big Shot scallop circle die cut; Kraft Open end envelope; Chocolate Chip & Pirouette Pink cardstock.

Birdie Friends

I used Leigh's Sketch from a couple weeks ago and my Love Owl-ways stamp set to make this card. I'm disappointed the set (from the Occasions Mini) didn't make it into the Spring/Summer catalogue and thought I should post something using it before it's too late! If you like this set, make sure you order by Sunday the 18th, because it might not be available after that... I dry embossed the square frame by making my own template out of cardstock (you can see a video by Kristina Werner here) and used my Aqua Painter and Stampin' Pastels to watercolour the birdies.

supplies: Love Owl-ways stamp set, Chocolate Chip and Kraft cardstock, watercolour paper, Stampin' Pastels, 1 3/4" circle punch, Staz-on Black and Riding Hood Red ink, Bella Rose DSP

January Holly Jolly kit (MSS)

This month's Red Star Kit is called "Holly Jolly" and it screamed Christmas to me. I used it to get some past Christmas' scrapped! I still have some left for this year too... love how full these kits are! Here's a picture of the kit...

And here are my layouts (and one card):

You can see what Jen, Leigh, Marcy and Valerie did with the kit here!
