LNS Challenge #16

So I've recently joined Late Night Stampers - a yahoo group for people who love Stampin' Up! (demonstrators and customers). It's a great source of information and they have lots of tips and inspiration and a challege each week. This week, Tiffany and Jenn came up with a sketch for the challenge, and I decided to play along!

Here's my card:

and the sketch that inspired it:

supplies (all SU!): Cardstock (Certainly Celery, Kraft, Very Vanilla); Stamps (Rustic Rooster, Oval All; Inks (Sahara Sand, Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate Chip); Earth Elements Stampin' Write Markers, DSP... scrap, so I'm not sure which set

Super Simple Birthday card

This super quick and easy card is made with my favourite set from the Occasions Mini catalogue. I used the Whisper White notecards, a Chocolate Chip inkpad and three Stampin' Write markers (Gable Green, Orchid Opulence and Tempting Turquoise) to make it. That's it!

I love this set because you get a pretty image that can be used with different colours to achieve many different looks, AND you get four outside sentiments and four inside verses (that can also be used on the outside). There aren't many stamps sets like this in the catalogue... I've looked! This set gives you a little bit of everything (maybe that's how it got its name... lol!) and allows you to create a lot of cards by changing the colours. You can see in this post that I got a pretty flower by rotating the stamp, and in this post, I used it as a tree branch. Here's the set:

If you're Canadian, and you like it as much as I do, you can order it from my Stampin' Up! page by going here and clicking the "Shop Now" button! If you find something else in the Occasions mini that brings your total to $50, you can choose one of the single stamps or note kits on pg 208 of the main catalogue for free!

Sketch #53

Here's this week's sketch (one page 12x12):

and my layout (using the April MSS kit again):

you can't really tell in the photo, but after I stamped the damask image with ink, I spread Stickles over top of the stamped area... love the way it looks IRL. If you create something, I'd love to see it! Link me up in the comments!

two more cards from my Spring Card Class

I thought I'd share the last two cards we made in my Spring Card Class last Sunday. They might just be my favourites from that class!

This one uses Fifth Avenue Floral (my favourite set right now). We stamped the lily on Glittery White cardstock (so pretty in person), watercoloured it with an Aquapainter and Pink Pirouette ink, then cut it out and popped it up on another Glittery White panel. On this one, I stamped and watercoloured another lily, but in the class, we just stamped the stem and sentiment on the bottom panel, and I liked it better. Of course I had to use my favourite punch (Scallop Border) to finish it off!

And my favourite (I think... there are a lot of good ones) from the Occasions Mini: Very Versatile. I love that you get four outside sentiments, four inside sentiments and an image in this set. A lot of the sentiment sets are words only, and somehow they just aren't as fun without an image! I inked the flower with So Saffron and Rose Red, and stamped four times, turning 90 degrees each time. I saw this card layout at Regionals last month (I wasn't lucky enough to swap for the card, so I'm not sure who created it). I cut the Top Note die and put the smaller panel (stamped randomly and repeatedly with the inside sentiment) on the inside of the card. Add a butterfly cut with my Big Shot, and you get my favourite card from the class!

It's my week to post on the My Scrap Shoppe blog, and I'm sharing some ideas for including stamping on your layouts... if you're interested, you can see my postsby clicking here...

Sketch #52

I can't believe I forgot to post this last Friday... I had it ready, but it totally slipped my mind... here's the sketch (a two-page sketch designed for the BYOM April Kit newsletter):

April Red Star Kit!

Check this kit out! I love the chipboard words and trees, and the stamp is fun and versatile this month! Those Doodlebug alpha stickers might be my favourite right now. Add to that a fun mix of papers (Fancy Pants, Pebbles, Little Yellow Bicycle) and a great mix of embellishments, and you get the "Everyday" April kit.

Here's what I've done so far... I have a card and another layout in progress.

MSS is having an online crop this weekend, so if you're in the mood to scrap and want some challenges to inspire you, make sure you check it out!

April BYOM kit!

After a few months off due to shipping delays, I'm happy to be working with the April BYOM kit again! This month, the kit is Basic Grey Marrakech papers and expoxy brads, mixed with some AC thickers (love this font, and grey was fun to work with for a change), Heidi Swapp acrylic clocks and hands and various other goodies...
Here's what I created:

I did the sketch challenge this month, and I went with a two-pager. The last layout is my layout for this sketch.

Spring Card Class!

I'm definitely ready for spring, and we've had some nicer days here so I'm in the mood for flowers and butterflies! I'm celebrating spring with a Spring Card class... these cards can be Easter cards, but I'll also have birthday, thank you and other sentiments available so you can choose the type of card to make.

We'll make five cards--three are pictured above--practicing several techniques (dry embossing, heat embossing, poppin' pastels, watercolouring and more) and we'll play with the Big Shot too! I've used some stamp sets from the new SU! Occasions Mini too. We'll also make a bright spring box to put the cards in. Here are the class details:

Sunday, April 5th @ 7:00pm
My House (e-mail in sidebar for address)
$10.00

If you're in the London, ON area, and would like to come to the class, please RSVP by Saturday April 4th.
