SAB - Heartfelt Banner Video

Stampin' Up! has created this video showing the Heartfelt Banner (free with a $60 order during Sale-a-bration - until March 31st) with some tips to put it together and also showing the completed banner.

Good As Gold - Take Three

This is my favourite of the three cards I've shared using the Good as Gold Card Kit (free with a $60.00 order during Sale-a-bration):

It's a happy accident that this card was even made! I was going to do the card as shown in the kit at my Sale-a-Bration Kick-Off Party last weekend, but I didn't have enough kits for everyone who registered (horrible problems to have, I know)! Since the card bases in the kit are patterned on both sides, I decided to cut them into two pieces that would fit onto the Whisper White Note Cards. As I noted yesterday, you don't need the whole gold envelope liner, so I cut the bottom of the liners into strips big enough to punch three gold banners. People could choose to use the gold stretchy twine from the kit or the Bermuda Bay Baker's twine (also in the kit). The Banner Blast stamp set and Banner Punch (both available for free during Sale-a-bration) were the perfect addition! I added a little sponging, and the card is complete!

Good as Gold - Take Two

I love the gold envelope liner that comes in the Good as Gold card kit, but feel like it's a bit wasted hidden inside the envelope... So I trimmed 2 3/4" off the bottom of one (so that it still looks like it lines the whole envelope) and squared up the sides so it was 4 3/4" long. Then I used it on one of the printed cards in the kit to create this lovely gold panel. The rest of the card is pretty much the same as the one shown in the kit, although I did change it from a horizontal card to a vertical card.

We made this card at my Gold Stars, Ink. Stamp night where I was showcasing many of the Sale-a-bration products. Some people embossed this gold panel with various embossing folders, and it worked very well!

I've got one more card variation I made with this kit to show you tomorrow...

Good As Gold - Sale-a-Bration!

This card is super quick and easy thanks to the Good As Gold kit you can get free during Sale-a-bration. This is the card exactly how it shows to make it in the instructions (included in the kit of course). The kit includes the envelope and gold foil liner, the pre-printed sentiment banner and the gold and coloured banner as well as the card base (some of the dots are gold too) and the gold thread and Bermuda Bay Baker's Twine. I've got a couple other card variations using the kit that I'll share over the next few days, so come back to check them out!

Feeling Sentimental Double Embossing Card

This is one of the cards we made in my Big Shot Class last weekend, and it features two Sale-a-Bration freebie products: Feeling Sentimental stamps and the Vine Street embossing folder.

This card features the Double Embossing technique. I created two templates from Chipboard. One for the outside (embossed with the Vine Street folder) and one for the inside (embossed with the Designer Frames embossing folder). Of course, you need to do your stamping before the embossing, so I created a template to help pencil in the area that should be stamped. My sandwich for the Big Shot was Multipurpose Platform - Tab 2, embossing folder with card stock inside, Chipboard template, Cutting Plate. I ran it through twice... first with the Vine Street Folder, and then with the Designer Frame folder positioned over the un-embossed section from the first folder.

Stamps: Feeling Sentimental*
Card stock: Soft Suede, Very Vanilla
Inks: Early Espresso
Other: Vine Street Textured Impression Folder, Designer Frame Textured Impression folder, Early Espresso Baker's Twine.

Honeycomb Secret Garden

One of my favourite (easy) techniques right now is stamping a large panel of card stock, then runnign it through the Big Shot in an embossing folder. It really takes a "plain" card and makes it special! For this card (from my March Simple Cards Class), I stamped the Whisper White panel with stamps from Secret Garden, then ran it though the Big Shot in the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Folder. I dressed it up with a doily, a pretty sentiment (from Vintage Verses--Free until March 22nd with a $60.00 order) and a flower and leaf stamped on scrap card stock and cut out with the Secret Garden Framelits. A little Certainly Celery Taffeta ribbon finishes this card off!

Stamps: Vintage Verses*, Secret Garden
Inks: Pink Pirouette, Certainly Celery
Card stock: Certainly Celery, Whisper White
Other: Large Pearl, Secret Garden Framelits, Doily, 2 1/2" Circle Punch, Certainly Celery Taffeta Ribbon, Honeycomb embossing folder

Madison Ave Origami Diamond Card

This card is made from one sheet of patterned paper (I used a piece of the Sycamore Street paper you can get free right now during Sale-a-Bration). We made this card at my Stepped Up Cards Class last weekend. If you'd like to see how to make the card base, you can watch Wendy's video on Youtube by clicking HERE.

This is the card closed, with the top flap in the front pocket. I dyed the piece of Canvas Creations (Spring Catalogue) with Island Indigo re-inker and water (three different containers with different amounts of re-inker). I dried the canvas with my Heat Tool in between each layer of colour so I would get the look I wanted. I used the Madison Ave stamp set (also free during Sale-a-bration) to stamp on the canvas, and added a Sycamore Street button to the middle of the flower. It's hard to tell in this picture, but I punched the corner and two sides of the Whisper White card stock with the Scallop Trim Corner and Border punches. The Summer Starfruit Stitched Satin Ribbon is tied around the top flap.

In this photo, you can see the card with the flaps opened, so you can see the second stamped panel. I used the Madison Ave stamp set again, and Fabulous Phrases for the sentiment.

The inside of the card... I added some more stamping with the Madison Ave stamp set.

Stamps: Madison Ave, Fabulous Phrases
Inks: Summer Starfruit, Tangerine Tango, Pool Party, Island Indigo
Card stock: Whisper White, Tangerine Tango, Island Indigo, Summer Starfruit
Other: Sycamore Street patterned paper, Scallop Trim Border punch, Scallop Trim Corner punch, Sycamore Street button, Island Indigo Baker's Twine

Standing Z-Fold Baby Card

I created this card for a private class (they requested a baby card) and it features Watercoloring with Watercolor Crayons, the Vine Street Embossing folder and a Standing Z-fold Fancy Fold card.

The card base is a standard Z-fold (4 1/4" x 11", score @ 2 3/4" and 5 1/2"), but the oval panels get propped under a Petite Curly Label punch (under the ribbon at the top) so it stands up. I love the Distressing Tool on the Watercolor paper... well, all paper actually. I embossed the Two by Two stamped image with Black Stampin' Emboss powder (it helps me keep the colours separate when I watercolor) on Watercolor paper, then used a Blender Pen to colour the image with Watercolor Crayons. I've been waiting for Oval Framelits, and am so happy they're in the Spring Catalogue!

I used this same layout (different papers and colours) for a card in my Stepped Up Cards class last month that features the Chalkboard technique, so I'll be sharing that soon!

Stamps: Two by Two
Inks: VersaMark, Watercolor Crayons
Card stock: So Saffron, Certainly Celery, Watercolor paper, Crumb Cake
Big Shot: Ovals Framelits, Vine Street Textured Impressions Folder (SAB)
Other: Black Stampin' Emboss powder, Tea for Two patterned paper, Daffodil Delight Seam Binding, Petite Curly Label punch

Textured Circle Birthday Card

This is one of the cards we'll be making in my Big Shot Class this weekend.

I ran different shades of blue card stock (Midnight Muse, Island Indigo, Marina Mist, Baja Breeze, Pool Party) through different Textured Impressions Folders (Lacy Brocade, Elegant Lines, Chevron, Fancy Fan & Argyle), then punched 1 3/8" circles from the embossed card stock. I layered them so they overlapped, added a tiny pearl where each set of circles met, added some Pool Party Seam Binding (my favourite) and a sentiment tag from the Pretty Petites stamp set (Sale-a-Bration) punched with the Petite Curly Label Punch (Sale-a-Bration) and tied on with some Linen Thread.

Sale-a-Bration - Vine Street Textured Impressions Folder

I love that there is an embossing folder available as a Sale-a-Bration freebie this year! I love my embossing folders because they take a really simple (and perhaps otherwise 'boring') card and take it up a notch! You can see this in action in this video:

February Scrapbook Class - You & Me

This is one of the layouts we're making this month in my Scrapbook Class (spaces still available ;-)

I love the Parker's Patterns papers in the Spring Catalogue, and I combined them with several pieces of card stock texturized with embossing folders and the Big Shot. Add a little ribbon, some paper strips with brads (I used the Petite Curly Label punch to get the funky end on the strips) and a title cut with the Typeset Alphabet dies and the Big Shot and it's done! This layout was based on one by Lyssa Z.

Card stock: Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight, Cajun Craze, Marina Mist, Not Quite Navy, Early Espresso
Big Shot: Typeset Alphabet, Chevron TIF, Arygle TIF, Houndstooth TIF, Stripes TIF
Other: Daffodil Delight Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon, Neutrals Brads, Petite Curly Label punch, Parker's Patterns DSP pack

Warmest Wishes - Blooming with Kindness

Lyssa Z posted this card on her blog recently, and I loved everything about it! We're making this card this weekend at my Simple Cards Class.

Stamps: Blooming with Kindness
Inks: So Saffron, Basic Gray
Card stock: So Saffron, Whisper White
Other: vintage faceted buttons (SAB freebie), black/gray two tone ribbon, white Bakers Twine, Distressing tool

Bloomin' Marvelous In & Out card

This is one of the cards we made at my January Gold Stars Ink. stamp night last week... This month I featured Sale a Bration products and we made six cards! I couldn't help myself... I wanted to showcase as many of the items we can get for free with a $60 order during Sale-a-Bration. We are also making this card on Friday at my lunch hour class at Western. This card is a little different because of the fold, but it's really easy to make!

Start with a 12" by 4" piece of card stock. Score at 2", 4", 8" & 10". I die cut a Window Frame shape with the Big Shot to attach to one side, but you can use any shape. The pieces of patterned paper (Sycamore Street--also a Sale-a-Bration freebie) are 1 3/4" x 3 3/4" and the stamped circle was punched with the 2 1/2" circle punch. The Bloomin' Marvelous stamp set might be my favourite Sale-a-Bration stamp set... I really like the distressed look of the images, and the variety of sentiments. I used Pool Party, Rich Razzleberry and Summer Starfruit inks (pulled from the patterned paper... Love it!)

Re-inker Spread Swallowtail card

This is one of the cards we're making this weekend at my Stepped Up Cards Classes (Friday evening and Sunday afternoon and evening). The design was based on a sketch challenge by Amanda Corbet.

I used the re-inker spread technique (stamped Swallowtail on Shimmery White cardstock with VersaMark, embossed with Early Espresso Stampin' Emboss powder, spritzed with water and used my Aquapainter to randomly add colours from re-inkers, then allowed to dry and cut out) to create my butterfly

Inks: VersaMark, Soft Suede
Re-inkers: Daffodil Delight, Soft Suede, Pumpkin Pie, Calypso Coral
card stock: Baja Breeze, Calypso Coral, Shimmery White
Other: Curly Label punch, Metallic Brads, Early Espresso Stampin' Emboss powder, Vine Street Embossing Folder (Sale-a-bration freebie), Aqua Painter, Paper Snips

Last Day of Sale-a-Bration - Language of Friendship

This card uses two products that you can still get for free with a $60.00 order until midnight tonight... the Designer Frames embossing folders and the Language of Friendship stamp set. Thankfully, these are also in the regular catalogue, so you can still get them after Sale-a-Bration ends (but not for free...).

I embossed the 'window' first with one of the frames, then stamped around it with the flower stamps in Language of Friendship with Baja Breeze ink. I stamped the bird, wing and leaf with another stamp in the set, which conveniently lines up perfectly with the 2-Step Bird punch to punch them all out at once. I coloured them (a combination of markers and Blender Pen with ink) and punched out a few other leaves to make the nest for the bird to sit on. I stamped the sentiment with Early Espresso ink and embossed with clear powder to make sure it stood out against the stamped background.

I have a few more cards with Sale-a-Bration products to share, so I'll be back later with another post!

Sprinkled Flowers - 2 days left!

Sprinkled Expressions is a perfect stamp set for the Rock 'n Roll technique... You have two days left to get this stamp set for free with a $60 order!

I used Marina Mist on the flower stamps, then rolled the edges in Island Indigo before stamping. I used markers (Pool Party and Marina Mist) to ink the sentiment stamp.

Stamps: Sprinkled Expressions
Inks: Marina Mist, Island Indigo
Card stock: Marina Mist, Whisper White, Pool Party
Other: 1 3/8" Circle punch, Scallop Circle punch, Stampin' Write Markers (Pool Party, Marina Mist)

Everyday Elegance Blossom Card - Three days left!

Only three days left to take advantage of Sale-a-Bration and get the beautiful Everyday Elegance papers (used on this card below) or another product from the Sale-a-Bration flyer for free with a $60 order!

Diana Gibbs created a card very similar to this one and I just had to make one myself... we made it at Lisa & Ila's party earlier this month. I also used another SAB freebie (the Fresh Vintage stamp set) for the flower centre.
